INTRODUCTION
My name is Dan Goldsmith. I was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario. I graduated from Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alberta and Columbia International University, Columbia, South Carolina. I took additional studies at Detroit Bible Institute, Detroit, Michigan and Briercrest College and Seminary, Caronport, Saskatchewan. Following a pastoral internship (1957-1958) at North Shores (Conservative) Baptist Church, St. Clair Shores, Michigan, I moved to Lac La Biche, Alberta and began my pastoral ministry in the fall of 1958. As I have sometimes said, "Lac La Biche was not the end of the world, but I could see it from there." I married my wife, Leona, in 1959 and we have three children, five grandsons, one grand-daughter by marriage who has given us our first great grandson.
We have lived in Abbotsford, BC since 1990. I retired from full-time pastoral ministry at Sevenoaks Alliance Church in Abbotsford in 2000. I have served as pastor with The Evangelical Free Church, Baptist, Independent and most of my pastoral years with the Christian & Missionary Alliance. All of my pastoral ministry has been in Alberta and British Columbia. Since retiring in 2000, I have served as interim senior pastor of two Fellowship Baptist Churches and preached about every five Sundays for six years at a new church plant, along with four other pastors, at an independent Church in Chilliwack, BC. That church grew to the point that they now have their own pastor. I have also filled the pulpit in several other churches and been involved in over 150 funeral/memorial services since retiring.
Since retiring, my wife Leona and I have written our life story. Twenty-five copies were printed, written mainly for family. It is 132 pages, together with several pictures, telling the story of our lives up to 2006, when it was printed. That needs updating but will have to wait.
In my 80th year my first book, Jokes, Quotes & Anecdotes - Made Especially For Citizens With Seniority was published by Xulon Press in Florida. The book consists of humor, dealing mainly with jokes, trivia and poems about seniors. It has been well received. Soon after its release, family members and friends started sending bits and pieces of humor to me all with the comment that they were for my next book. Well, I never planned to write the first book, let alone attempt a second book.

Almost five years later, July 2015, a second book, Jump Start Your Day - With A Smile, Story, Scripture & Saying was published by Xulon Press. This book consists of a daily reading for 365 days, plus one for leap year, and begins each day with a slice of humor followed by some personal comments and a devotional thought. Now I often receive comments saying that I need to work on a third book. One friend told me that I had to write another one because this second book ends with December 31st. Well, another book is not on my bucket list, but I have started to organize the thousands of family pictures and slides that have accumulated over the years. I am also organizing and placing in three ring binders the poems, prose and other articles that I've written over the years, plus a variety of keepsakes which can be placed in a binder. To date I have sufficient material to fill four binders. So, these binders plus this blog, which are all in progress, need to be considered my third book and maybe fourth, fifth, etc.
